Radio Remote Controls

Radio Communications to ensure Mobility of Humans and Industrial Equipment

In a world where mobility is an ever-growing challenge, both for humans and machines, remote controls offer a safe way of operating or monitoring machines from a distance.

For more than 40 years, our solutions have been widely used for industrial lifting and handling machinery. Advanced features like infrared startup validation, multiple equipment management and connectivity with industrial automation systems target advanced overhead crane installations such as synchronized multi-cranes management or automatic process cranes with industrial bus interfaced with radio control.

Besides lifting and handling activities, our solutions proved their relevance in fields like intralogistics, people transport equipment, factory automation, liquid and bulk transfer under potentially explosive conditions, industrial vehicles and construction. Every day, new applications emerge that benefit from our made-to-measure solutions.

Depending on the country's regulations or the dangerousness of the process/equipment, the remote control will be selected from either our high safety series or industrial ones...

Safety Radio Remote Controls

"Safe" means the guarantee that the machine stops absolutely in any dangerous situation: emergency stop, machine failure, radio communication disturbance. The primary objective of this concept of safety is to protect humans. This is achieved through dual-microcontroller architecture with a cross-control of data integrity. A notified body, such as TÜV, independently certifies this guaranteed safety.

What is the required level of emergency safety stop?

  • The SIL 3 - PLe series must be used for the most dangerous or difficult to protect applications.
  • The SIL 2 - PLd series covers moderately dangerous applications or the ones that can be partly protected.

Industrial Radio Remote Controls

Industrial Radio Remote Controls are suitable for applications where no certified safety level is required. However, these remotes are ruggedized to withstand harsh industrial conditions.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

How Does an Industrial Radio Remote Control Work?

An industrial radio remote control is a wireless device used to control industrial machinery and equipment from a distance. It uses radio frequency (RF) signals to send commands to the machine, improving safety, efficiency, and convenience in industrial environments.

How to achieve a reliable radio link?

A failure in radio transmission might result in:

  • a loss of security, if an emergency stop were missed
  • operating losses, as a result of production downtime caused by operator to machine miscommunication.

Surely, maintaining a reliable radio link is critical for best industrial performance.

Conductix-Wampfler's experience in safety radio implementation in all sort of industrial environments builts a strong field expertise with the ways and means to guarantee reliable transmission.

Our means:

  • Adjustable emission power
  • Long-range on demand
  • Broad range of antennas to adapt to each environment
  • Repeater for adverse situations such as highly-packed warehouses
  • Radio signal strength indication to map radio conditions in the operating zone.

What are the benefits of using a Radio Remote Control?

  • Enhanced Safety: Operators can control machines from a safe distance.
  • Increased Efficiency: Reduces the need for physical proximity to the equipment.
  • Flexibility: Allows for precise and dynamic control from various positions.
  • Reduced Downtime: Simplifies complex operations and troubleshooting

Will Conductix-Wampfler radio remote controls operate well in severe environmental conditions?

  • ATEX versions of Advanced Control series (Beta, Gama, Pika, Moka) are dedicated to explosive environments.
  • Wearing thick gloves is no obstacle to ergonomic working conditions with our series, especially with Gama, Pika and Moka transmitters.
  • Optional features on Advanced Control series adress corrosive vapors, metal dust...
